There have been numerous requests for the ability to set default
settings for new players, ideally differentiating between local and
remote players.

Here's just one enhancement request, that specifically targets remote
player bitrates.

With the remote software player Squeezeslave, I set a fixed MAC address
to identify the player.  Although my IP address never changes, wouldn't
this keep the player from being identified as more than one, even if
the IP address changes?  I'm not sure if the same option exists for
Softsqueeze or Squeezeplay.
