I don't normally run the deb version, but I just installed it on a fresh
VM. SC and mysqld are both started as the same 'squeezecenter' user and
this problem doesn't occur.

Note the debian build of SC always uses the system MySQL, but should
start it as the squeezecenter user.

Can you post the output of "ps axu | grep squeezecenter"? Here is mine
for reference:

Code:
--------------------

  103 18621 0.0 0.2 4140 1464 ? Ss 17:26 0:00 /bin/bash
/usr/sbin/squeezecenter_safe /usr/sbin/squeezecenter-server --prefsdir
/var/lib/squeezecenter/prefs --logdir /var/log/squeezecenter/ --cachedir
/var/lib/squeezecenter/cache --charset=utf8
  103 18623 3.9 11.7 65176 60972 ? S 17:26 0:05
/usr/bin/perl -w /usr/sbin/squeezecenter-server --prefsdir
/var/lib/squeezecenter/prefs --logdir /var/log/squeezecenter/ --cachedir
/var/lib/squeezecenter/cache --charset=utf8
  103 18640 0.3 3.4 96492 17848 ? Sl 17:27 0:00
/usr/sbin/mysqld --defaults-file=/var/lib/squeezecenter/cache/my.cnf

--------------------

(I don't know why it shows the squeezecenter user as 103.)
