I said that when you mentioned the Unique requirement in your 10k item test, that it reminded me of the Birthday Paradox, not that the 10k item test showed it: the smaller set would show the paradox. That's the whole reason it tends to be confusing to us. In this case, there is a uniqueness requirement on the path to the track (not even the track itself, but on the path: two versions of the same track are different), but not on the album or artists. So, if you have 10,000 tracks from 1000 albums by 250 artists.. it seems to me to be pretty good odds that choosing 30 random tracks will have at least two with the same artist. And not too unreasonable to even see two from the same album. -- snarlydwarf ------------------------------------------------------------------------ snarlydwarf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=59041 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta
