The is no really important reason to use the WHS version of slimserver. It's really only a matter of tidiness and, perhaps, speed of access - if you are one of those people who has the console logged in at all times then there are some basic and commonly used slimserver functions at your fingertips. This includes the ability to stop and start the slimserver service which is slightly more handy that remote desktopping and getting through the menus to the relevant service on the admin menu. I like it quite a lot but its no killer app - certainly not if you are comfortable with remote desktop.
I think its main purpose really is to recognise that newer WHS users might be quite novice users and it gives them an easy way of installing the whole system with an easy learning curve.
