So, we try to improve. The thing you buy is a Squeezebox. To set up an account, you'll go to mysqueezebox.com (would have preferred squeezebox.com, but it was taken). To play music stored on your computer you install the Squeezebox software, which includes the Squeezebox Server. Seems pretty straightforward.
