I understand what you're are saying about not being forced... but
"sticking" to an old version that will eventually be deprecated is not
an option for me. As I said in my previous post, what I hope will happen
is that a migration path will be available where users of the "old"
MySQL versions will be able to move to SQLite with the "least" amount of
pain. There might well be other justifiable reasons, but from what I
read in other related threads, the main reason that SD is switching to
SQLite "appears" to be that users are having problems with Antivirus
programs locking MySQL. I don't know why SD was dissuaded from trying to
solve that issue. But it "appears to me" that this was an issue that SD
could have brought forward to the MySQL developers community and offer
development resources to find the underlying reason(s) that are causing
the problem. I believe that the whole MySQL user population (not just
SD's) would have benefited from such effort.

Btw, I'm not upset that the platform is evolving.... What I'm upset
about is the "apparent" disregard for existing MySQL users that want to
either stick with MySQL and still "gain" functionality or that want to
continue to "evolve" to SQLite (gain even more functionality) without
loosing the hard work we have done to tune up our libraries to work with
the previous versions.
