I agree with what erland mentions above. I think the restrictions for hiding unsupported plugins should be reserved for "official" releases. During the beta period having the flexibility to install/update officially released plugins along side the beta plugins is a lot easier using Extension Downloader.
A bit off topic... I'm still a bit skeptical about placing the ED installed plugins in the Cache folder. The clear cache function of the SC Control Panel deletes the whole cache folder. When one clears the cache and re-starts the server not only does the server need to rescan the library, but all the plugins need to be reinstalled. The "officially" available plugins via ED are installed and the beta plugins are deleted. The other issue is that one can not share the Cache folder if clearing the cache also removes the folder. I just ran into an issue with moose where moose wants access to the squeezecenter.db in the cache folder of my XP server. In order to do so, I had to share the Cache folder for moose to get access to the db. Well, during my testing using the SC Control Panel I cleared the Cache. This in effect removed the actual folder and the share along with it. It took me a couple minutes to figure out that the folder had been deleted. Maybe the actual Cache folder and the InstalledPlugins subfolder should not be delete when one clears the cache using the Control Panel. -- tamanaco ------------------------------------------------------------------------ tamanaco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4620 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=65598 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
