Thanks for all the tips above. Looking at the reserved ports I can see at the bottom of the list are the four SC ports......but they are each separated by a blank line from the line above them - don't know if this breaks the action of the reservations or not. I've just removed those blank lines so that the SC ports follow directly on from the previous lines and each other. Will see what happens after the next reboot. At least I know where to look in future.
I do need to run DNS as this is a domain controller. I've just bought a ReadyNAS NV+ anyway so I'm just starting to set it up now. Just got to wait for the extra memory to arrive.
