Just a (obvious) suggestion:
Before you copy that servers.pref file from
/var/lib/squeezecenter/prefs/server.prefs to
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs/server.prefs, make a backup of the
'virgin' 7.4 prefs file first.

# cp /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs/server.prefs
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs/server.prefs.org
# cp /var/lib/squeezecenter/prefs/server.prefs
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs/server.prefs

That way, if there are 7.3 specific things in the "old" prefs file that
7.4 chokes on, you have an easy way to recover.
