Not quite -- you misunderstand the difference between the 7.3.x and 7.4 branches. Both are maintained simultaneously with only small bug fixes going into 7.3.x. An example of the type of fixes going into 7.3.x still are compatibility updates for Apple's Snow Leopard over the weekend. No new features though. 7.4 has matured rapidly over the past few weeks. I think it's safe to say that 7.4 will be the release that adds support for the new hardware being discussed and seen, which surely is due to be released within the next month.
