The installer ran on my system also. Windows Server 2003 SP2. I installed the latest nightly today and didn't see it.
Something else: Today I right-clicked the tray icon, chose 'Install Update' and the installation of the nightly began. While copying files I saw a message to the effect of 'could not overwrite slimtray.exe'. I then saw the tray icon disappear, hit 'Retry' and it successfully continued the install. Following the installation, SqueezeTray was running again, but the SbS server wasn't restarted (running as a service) and it appears that the bundled MySQL wasn't reinstalled as a Windows service. I manually started the SbS service and the bundled MySQL was then installed and everything runs.
