Are you sure it's not to do with all this pause/stop nonsense that was happening in SC/SBS?
At one stage the distinction between pause and stop seemed to vanish and I think this problem started soon after that. When you switch the player off the stream ought to stop and not just pause, and then on resume it should request a brand new stream. I'm not convinced that's what's actually happening any more.
