It seems to me that 7.4.2 is a developmental cul-de-sac. I'm trying to determine why the Customize Controller plugin broke as soon as I updated to 7.4.2 - but not if 7.4.2 is obsolete.
Is there any reason to evaluate the 7.4.2 instead of 7.5?
