Well, on step 3: When I first tried it a month or so ago, it did not work. I was using 7.4 SBS and the Squeezeplayer that was on the 7.4 nightly page just before release.
I think I played around with switching the player between the SP and other players (Settings > Choose Player) before trying to connect to mysb.com and somehow it suddenly worked. I have been using the SP from the nightly 7.41 before it was released and it is (for me) very reliable on switching between SBS and mysb.com. I wish I knew exactly what I might have done.
