One thing I've noticed is that the ALLPICTURES tag is different for the two files. I'm assuming this is the embedded artwork - will SS display them as separate albums if the artwork is different?
I've also got a cover.jpg file in the same directory, so I'd expect SS to ignore the embedded artwork and use cover.jpg instead.
