while troubleshooting another bug i observed this behavior, and i wonder
if anyone can reproduce and explain whats going on...

i had a recent 7.5b on my vista 32bit ultimate. i uninstalled it and
when prompted, i told it to remove log files and user prefs. i also
checked the relevant places to see if any folders or files were left
behind and even ran crap cleaner.

i then installed a slightly newer beta and somehow, it knew where my
music was AND my "last scan stats/results!" how can this be???

first, the music is not in "my music" but rather a folder called music
right on the desktop. second, the stats were exactly the same as before
the uninstall, and did not reflect some newer stuff i had put there
since the last scan but before the uninstall, so i know it hasn't
scanned again since then.

how could the reinstall "know" where the music was locatd, and what the
stats were?
