If you're interested, what's happening is that the when booting up the
controller a serverConnected notification hits the Alarm applet on the
controller, which triggers a defensive method to make sure the alarm is
firing when it should be firing. 

Problematically, it's not properly checking to see if the alarm
actually should be firing and is sounding the fallback alarm regardless.
Youch.

I'm testing a fix for that right now and it should be in the next
firmware you receive. Sorry for the weirdness, it's my fault.
