I filed this problem with support but since the Duet Controller Audio
Playback feature is still in Beta, they asked me to post it here.

Question Reference #100106-004607

Operating System: Windows XP
Logitech Software: SlimServer
Software Version: 7.4.1
Downloaded latest SW: Yes

I upgraded my Duet Controller, Receiver, and Transporter to the latest
firmware and I'm running the latest version of Squeezebox Server. Since
I upgraded, I get continuous drop outs and studdering while playing
anything from my music library. Note that I do NOT see a "Rebuffering"
message when the dropouts occur--just a dropout and crackle or distorted
sound. The dropouts typically last only a second or less but there may
be many dropouts within a span of 10-20 seconds.

I've got Squeezebox Server running on two different computers (one
Windows XP, the other Windows Home Server) and I've tried playing music
sourced from both servers'libraries on the Duet and get the problem in
both cases.

The problem seems to vary from just an occasional dropout to times when
a song barely plays because of continues dropouts. Also, I've replayed
the same song over and over and the problem varies from play to play of
that same song.

On the Duet's diagnostics screen my wireless signal reads anywhere
between 45% - 90% although that seems to have no relationship to whether
or not I'm getting the dropouts. Sometimes it plays fine at 45% and then
I get dropouts at 85%.

Note also, that this problem only occurs with the Duet. My Squeezebox
and Transporter work fine and both are on the same wireless network. The
Duet and Transporter are in the same room only a few feet apart. Also,
I'm only playing one of them at a time so I don't think network
bandwidth should be an issue.

Please let me know if there is any additional info I can provide.
