There are some speed improvements in both scanning and artwork
handling. The switch to SQLite for the database has approximately
halved scanning times on most systems. Artwork caching is also done in
SQLite instead of individual files, and is quicker. Artwork handling
may also be more reliable.
However, there are some noted problems with 7.6:
- While switching to SQLite as the default database system, it's
planned to still support the use of MySQL databases, with the ability
to switch in the web interface. MySQL works on Linux systems, but is
known not to work on Windows in SbS 7.6 as it currently stands.
- A lot of people have reported problems with local character sets,
with files with some special characters in the names being skipped or
causing the scanner to crash.
- A few people (myself included) have seen some syncing problems,
where playback stops between tracks in the current playlist.
Possibly only happening when SqueezePlay players (Touch and Radio)
are part of the sync group.
