The scanner.log still gets messages from the separate scanner when doing a full clear and rescan. So I'm not so sure it's in the plans. It could just as easily be the plan to completely eliminate the separate scanner and do clear and rescan type scans from within the main server. I suppose the only reason that there are two logs to begin with is because of the two different process, each writing to its own log file.
