Sure, I understand all that. But I'm a bit surprised that UTF-8 encoded
filenames are still a problem today in a UNIX (Linux/Mac OS) or at
least UNIXy in that regard (Windows) environment. Especially since
things do work in 7.5.x. If things are broken with UTF-8 encoded tags,
well, yes, that may have got something to do with the DB engine change.
But apparently, the files are not scanned at all, so it's happening way
before the DB engine could be a factor.
