Yes, it is pretty much "grab X random songs". In the initial sample, it will be unique (in that it grabs a list of songs in random order) items. Erland's plugins can allow some more useful randomness: excluding things that really shouldn't be included (I drop things with 'explicit' in the genre, things that are less than 90 seconds, or greater than 20 minutes for my work playlist) and can skip songs that have been played 'recently'. Of course human brains love pattern matching and finding patterns. So you -will- hear 2 songs from the same artist or album next to each other. Those cases will sit in your head more than all the times you -don't' hear that. Add in fun statistical brain-confusers like "the birthday paradox" (google for it if you don't know what it is...) and the randomness will seem less random than it is... I just hit '>>' when my radio plays something I think isn't random enough or just not matching my current interest. -- snarlydwarf ------------------------------------------------------------------------ snarlydwarf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82030 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
