Breadcrumbs and Alphabet bars missing would be a ridiculous choice IMHO and will surely get you into trouble from a usability POV.
Advanced search: u believe the search functionality as a whole is probably outdated and should be replaced. I believe you would need something like a full-text search over all content (tags, filenames,...) I believe the rule based advanced search is not what most people really want.
