unfortunately m4a files will not play on the Squeezebox, or many other hardware devices. Though indeed it does seem to be the way many enhanced podcasts are going, it is just not a well supported media format at this point. Hopefully in the near future squeezebox and other hardware devices will begin implementing m4a support.
