Mark is right. Using the deb is a much easier method to get up and running with the 7.6 beta. The only advantages of running from the svn code are: 1). ability to have both the released version and the unstable trunk installed on the same machine in parallel so you can switch back and forth between versions by simply starting & stopping services, 2). it's easier and quicker to update to the latest code using a simple svn up command, 3). you get quicker access to code changes, and finally 4). it's slightly easier to hack on the code as the svn code is less scattered around the file system. But other than that, what have the Romans ever done for us?
