The scanner.exe broke shortly after 7.6 r32108 on Windows. Every 7.6 version later than r32108 that I have tried has crashed running a clear and rescan, the latest was 7.6 r32529. After replacing the scanner.exe with the scanner.exe from 7.6 r32108 a clear and rescan works perfectly.
