For what it's worth, I thought that Abort scan was working for me.  I tried it 
a few times, when I was testing.  There's loads of other things wrong with 
scanning, but aborting seemed to function okay.

Apparently, it's been released.  I'm suprised that it has been pushed out - I'm 
expecting lots of grief for users.

I wonder how many 3rd party plugins still require updates?  There doesn't 
appear to be a nice way of telling which ones are incompatible.
