I've already requested that in the bug report. You're right, there's no difference between a compilation and non-compilation in that regard. If the track artists are displayed in the individual track listings there's no reason to show a long list of track artists up above. One other thing, though... In the web interface of 7.5 and earlier, the artist names in the song list were each individually linked to that artist's page. I think this is important functionality to be restored.
