The 20322 scanned files that were found during the scan were no longer available after it finished, and the library stats reported zero files. In addition there was no Playlists entry on the web UI. I'm determined to get this running over the weekend, and so have now manually entered in the pathnames to the music folder on the external drive and to the playlist folder on the internal drive. It's been rescanning for the last hour and has probably got another hour to go before I know if that has helped at all. What I can see now is that the Playlists entry on the web UI has come back, along with the Music Folder entry (which I don't normally have because I normally leave that path empty as the pop-up information on the Basic Settings page says). And now I've done something silly - I browsed to a file in the Music Folder and crashed the server!
