Squeezebox became popular over all the other players because of what it
is. It has a server written in Perl so that it is extremely portable. It
is largely web based which also makes it highly portable. There is only
so much OS specific code in there.
What "efficient popular" programs are you comparing it against? SBS is
efficient, it runs with no noticeable delays on my QNAP ts-209 with a
500mhz CPU 128mb ram. SBS with 10 years under its belt and 11 purpose
built hardware devices has proven popular worldwide.

I dont think you even understand what SBS is really.
You claim all kinds of illogical random things in this thread.
"Squeezebox will fail unless Windows and OSX userbase is increased" -
thats just nonsense business logic.
"tinysbs is entirely different to SBS" - nope
"Perl is not capable of being efficient or popular" - uh huh.
"SBS is all software from Logitech" - no it's just SBS
"Windows is the best solution for all users server needs" - ...
"Squeezebox has never had a large enough team to write a cross platform
Perl server" - well actually that was written fairly early on in the
long life of Squeezebox

nicolas75, you would do well to sit back and consider that Squeezebox
has been doing fine before you decided that you need to explain that
everything up to this point was done entirely wrong. There is no huge
problems and most users are very happy with their Squeezeboxes. You are
not Logitech management, you are an armchair expert at home with very
little technical knowledge of the Squeezebox product.
