Some numbers from my small 3495 tracks FLAC library on Linux:
Summary:
- 7.5.6 r32834 with (MySQL 5.0.21): 03:22
- 7.6.1 r33045 with (MySQL 5.0.21): 02:27
- 7.6.1 r33045 with (SQLite): 01:45
I tried with 7.6.1 33020 and 330019(without WAL) and both performed the
same as 33045 in my small FLAC library. I've also executed the tests
twice both from web interface and with empty cache folder and verified
that the performance was the same in all cases.
My feeling is that if we want to measure performance we should measure
with the software versions and configuration distributed with SBS, that
is MySQL 5.0.21 and the "High" database configuration setting in "SBS
Settings/Advanced/Performance".
It can of course be interesting to see how MySQL performs with even
more optimized settings and with later MySQL versions but it's not
realistic that most normal end users is going to use that.
I'm going to re-run the tests with my 50 000 track test library to see
if the behavior changes with the database size, will get back later
with more information about this.
