BMF is more or less useless if you are used to browsing your photos
with a real photo managing application which offers the possibility to
tag photos with keywords. Some kind of support for browsing library by
keywords is what we need if LMS want to offer something better than the
competition.

I'd be fine with either:
- Reading XMP/IPTC keyword tags
or
- Making it possible to add keywords directly through SBS and store
them persistently in the database.

Besides this, I think browsing by date can be useful. But the current
date based browse methods in LMS are too detailed since you won't see
the thumbnails until you have selected a specific date. I'd instead
prefer a browse menu that made it possible to list all images within a
certain month.

I usually know the photo was taken during the summer 2008 but I might
not remember exactly which day. It's exactly the same problem as the
current "Years" browse menu for music, I usually know that something
was released during the 90'ties but I don't know exactly which year.

Yes, I thought of that too.

Getting the GPS coordinates into the database would be a start,
incorporating/using some kind of location database to translate them to
a user friendly location name would be the next step. After that it's
just a matter of offering a possibility to browse your images by
location which would be really cool.
