Band names and album titles need to be treated differently. No one on the planet files bands starting with "The" under "T"... there are simply far too many of them for this to be a good idea.
However, there are very few bands and relatively few albums that start with "A". Thus there is little reason to ignore the article "A". According to my analysis of my library (3000 albums) less than 1% of albums start with "a" or "the".
