Just tried LMS 7.7 nightly 33472. Works fine with Squeezeboxes but I tried the upnp support with my Samsung series C TV and PS3.
I have been running minidlna so far so will compare against it. 1)Every other time I start my devices, LMS will not show and the only fix is to restart LMS at my PC. After a LMS restart LMS shows up at the devices. minidlna is always available instantly. 2)the folder structure is poor, when I select Video I then have to select Video again from the next screen, then Video Folder. I don't want all these extra button presses every time I want to watch something, I should be able to just say I want to start in Videos. minidlna can drop straight into video folder for videos and audio folder for audio. 3)loading folders is not instant on my quad 2.6ghz 4gb PC, but is instant when running minidlna on my 500mhz 128mb NAS. 4)On TV once you get to a folder with video files in it you cant exit out of the screen via on screen "Upper Folder" or by pressing return key on the remote. The only way to exit the screen is to exit upnp on the TV and start again. Other folders do work correctly. PS3 is not effected by this as it cache's it's own folder structure. Works fine on both devices under minidlna. 5)On TV all video files reported that the file type was not supported. Eg AVI and MKV files would not work. The TV plays all the same files flawlessly from minidlna. PS3 could play avi files fine so appears unaffected. As an extra point I cant run LMS 7.7 on my NAS as Squeezebox sever just seg faults due to incorrect perl modules. I wasn't able to build the modules myself as was possible under the 7.6 branch. Currently LMS is entirely unusable as a upnp server for Samsung series C and is very poor for PS3. -- bits ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bits's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13375 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90320 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
