But, you probably guessed it already :-) you could use Whitebear instead of the LMS plugin. Whitebear "offers" tracks in three formats (namely L16, Mp3, "native" -- insofar as "native" is not already Mp3), so the control point / renderer can choose whichever of those offers it supports.
