I just installed 7.8.0 - 1382423388 on my old HP MediaSmart EX495 home server running Windows 8.1 Pro and ran a full clear and rescan of my library - WOW! It scanned 23003 directories holding 19290 files in just 5 minutes 15 seconds! It used to take nearly 45 minutes to scan the same directories!
I have one SSD drive for the OS and programs, 3 mechanical storage hard drives in the server and one external drive for File History. The music folder is on a mechanical hard drive with Windows 8.1 Pro's Storage Spaces turned on for file duplication across the other drives. I'm running two Squeezebox Touches and one 2nd generation Squeezebox.
