If I understand corectly, 7.9 should have the significant changes announced in the thread titled '*LMS 7.8.1 - changes ahead*' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?101235-LMS-7-8-1-changes-ahead), while 7.8.1 now should have only 'safe' changes made since the recent 7.8.0 release.
