A while back, Stuart Hickingbottom supplied a patch that provided an additional option in the player alarm settings, allowing an alarm to be configured to shuffle a playlist selected as an alarm source.
I merged this into my local git repository (7.8). As far as I can tell this was merged into the official Logitech repository (I can see it in 7.9 at least). However, it doesn't seem to be working as I remember it. If I select "Shuffle by Song", it seems to queue up songs from the chosen playlist, in the playlist order, and chooses a random entry in the current playlist to start playback from, rather than shuffle the songs from the playlist. Has something in 7.9 caused this to break?
