Ok, looked into your list again. FWIW: I'm using FF29 for most of the web dev work (thanks to firebug).

1. If I move mouse over the search button, and mouse pointer then sits beneath
the search strip, after typing one character the live search area pops up, and
one of the result lines receives the mouse focus, so subsequent keypresses are
ignored. Could keypresses be passed to the search widget if mouse is anywhere
within the live search panel? Especially annoying if the next keypress is
backspace, causing a browser back navigation!

Don't know yet how to work around this. Just don't position the pointer beneath the input...

2. Having typed something and lost focus, clicking in search box causes the
live search results panel to disappear, and for the exist text to get
highlighted, so another mouse click to avoid new keypresses overwriting
existing text.

That should be fixed. Thanks.

5. The live search results panel looks nice, but is a bit thin. I get lots of
result visibly cropped - can scroll horizontally to read, but the grey strip
down left hand side doesn't move (artwork does).

There's probably a bug in Ext.menu: minWidth doesn't work as advertised. I've decided to make it a bit larger overall.

7. In Advanced Search page, the live search button in page title doesn't expand
to show search panel on mouse over. Only appears if I click on it.

Fixed. Thanks!
