One of the main reasons I stick with LMS is this ability. For instance,
I've not managed to play 'random works' in any other server of any
type.

So it already is a very rare and precious library manager for me, except
for the custom scan re-scan taking hours (I also admit to re-compacting
the databases, even in 7.9 which does some of this, since it doesn't
seem to compact the persist.db after the custom scan has finished).
However, getting to this point has taken me a lot of effort over a long
time, starting with Erland's excellent guide at
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Setup_browse_menu_for_classical_music
and building on that.

I guess a problem getting resources would be the limited size of the
classical market.

LMS 7.9 on VortexBox Midi, Xubuntu 14.04, FLACs 16->24 bit,
44.1->192kbps. LMS & Squeeze2upnp (Alpha - derived from squeezelite) to
Musical Fidelity M1 CLiC and Marantz CR603 UPnP renderers. Squeezelite
to PC sound. Minimserver (server) and upplay (control point) to same
amps & to upmpdcli/mpd PC renderers. Meridian USB Explorer DAC from PCs
to speakers/headphones. Wireless Xubuntu 14.04 laptop controls
LMS/upplay via Firefox. Have a Touch with EDO, and a spare, but don't
use.
