You didn't but atrrocity just above you did :)
The problem is not that it's a huge issue when I see a wrong order - I
can just as well fix the tags.
The problem is when I _don't_ see it. Probably in a lot of cases.
The underlying issue is a severe problem with iTunes: it sometimes mixes
up tags from two different sources and then there is a different tagging
scheme from some of your tracks (in one album) compared to the others.
While it's clearly an iTunes issue I don't have a good solution (short
of manually re-tagging) since I literally haven't found a usable ripping
software under OSX yet.
Since probably the majority of Squeezebox users (as opposed to the
majority of people discussing tagging on this forum) is using iTunes I'm
pretty sure I'm not alone with this problem. Treating "no disc info" and
"1/1" as equivalent would fix it probably in 95% of all cases.
This is how a good product should work. It should not try to tell the
user what he might have done wrong ("don't use iTunes", "re-tag",...),
it should just solve the fricking problem, especially when it comes at
no cost for other users (again: I don't think there are a lot of people
using this actively, if any at all).
