i just deleted my server.prefs (for another reason) so i am sure my settings from the logging are the std.
Which is wrong: the log settings are not stored in server.prefs, but log.conf.
For those who prefer a GUI there's a "reset to defaults" choice in the drop-down box at the top of the logging settings.
