Ok, this is probably something you haven't been waiting for, as there
are good alternatives. But I've been working on a new implementation of
our Spotify app. Asked to move to the new API (because they want to shut
down the old one), I decided to not only migrate the old, rather limited
feature set, but give it some more overall love. Which basically means:
an experience which is closer to Spotify's official offerings. Eg.
browsing playlists, searching for them, those suggestions of the moment
(currently "Fresh hits for a Tuesday afternoon") etc. Not all of their
feature set is available through their web API, though. Thus there are
limitations. (And before anyone asks: only SB Radio and SB Touch will
work with Spotify, as they didn't lift that limitation).

Now here's the problem: I cannot tell you whether this is ever going to
be released, nor whether it actually can be released (there are some
outstanding technical questions). But I'm optimistic about it. And the
more testing we get from the community, the better the chances.
I would love to get some early feedback on these changes. It's currently
available from test.mysqueezebox.com only. Which means: either you're
running LMS, or you're willing to fiddle with the command line on your
Radio/Touch itself. In any case you'd need to create a new account on
test.mysqueezebox.com and re-configure all your services.
- LMS users: shut down LMS, edit the server.prefs file to add
"use_sn_test: 1" (or change the value if it's already there)
- mysb.com users: follow the instructions on

The authentication currently is two step: first you'll have to log in as
before, using your Spotify username/password. You'll then get a button
to activate this account. Click it and follow Spotify's instructions to
enable the app. Once this is done you should be able to use Spotify on
your Squeezebox.
