I've been running the 7.9 nightlies for a few months now and noticed recently that crossfade doesn't work, but only under specific circumstances..
Actually the circumstances are much less specific than you thought. I was able to reproduce this issue with the RandomPlay plugin. When I set it to always only add one track, then I'd see the same behaviour. But it actually would occur with _all_ transitions from the second-to-last to last track. In this case the crossfading never works. Your use case is just very specific as it's always dealing with only this one particular transition, due to its dynamic nature.
If you could configure Spicefly to add more than one track, you could work around this issue. Meanwhile I'll try to understand how we could fix this for good.
