Flo/Florence/Yoke Subject: Vocab Sushi This could be an interesting learning site. ysp ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vocab Sushi I love this site’s slogan: “bitesize learning” because that’s exactly what you’re going to get! You’ll improve your vocabulary via games, exercises, and more! You should begin by registering – it’s easy, click the Free Sign Up tab, and fill out the form with your name, e-mail address, select the test or difficulty you’d like to study for and then fill out the Captcha to prove you are human. Make sure you provide a working e-mail address that you have access to because you’ll need to confirm your account by clicking the verification link. While you’re waiting for the e-mail to arrive you can take your diagnostic test to set your vocabulary level. Since I’m nowhere near ready to the GRE, I chose to set my vocabulary lists by College level difficulty. Later when I’m closer to graduating, I’ll switch to studying for the GRE. The diagnostic test will use that difficulty to test my vocabulary prowess. The test is 20 questions. They are an assortment of filling in the right word into a sentence and straight definitions. If you don’t like your score or found the words too difficult you can take the diagnostic again. For example the first time I scored 33, but I found those words to be a little more difficult than I wanted to start with so I retested and got a 30, which is a range I’m more comfortable in right now. Once you’ve confirmed your account, you can start exploring the tabbed categories: Words – this section will show you your current vocabulary list. You can monitor how you are progressing on learning individual words, learn words, hear the words pronunciation, and experience the word used correctly in a sentence. Learn – this section provides you with sentences to read the words in your vocabulary list, as well as, ways to learn offline by downloading your list. Games – this section lets you play vocabulary games to strengthen your knowledge of words on your list. It will help you sort out which words you’ve mastered, and those you need to keep working on. You can use sentence completion or definition matching, just like on the diagnostic test you took when you setup your account. Progress – this is where you can chart your overall progress, literally! Once you’ve actively been learning you’ll be able view the chart of your progress. In the meantime, you can how you’re doing on the words in your list, broken down by five columns. The columns are: struggling, need work, practicing, doing well, and mastered. The words in your list will show up underneath one of these five columns so you can see how you’re doing at a glance. This site offers a wonderful way to expand your vocabulary bite by bite as you play games, learn words, and read! http://www.vocabsushi.com/ --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "BETTER PERSONALITY GROUP" group.
