Festivals are an occasion to celebrate. Celebration with responsibility is the
mantra.

Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival of gaiety and merriment. You can begin the
revelry much before the festival by getting together your family and making eco
friendly Ganesha’s at home. Eco Ganesha’s are IN and Synthetics, OUT!

Here are some tips to make merry and be eco friendly:

·        Use natural clay, turmeric, geroo, multani matti and the likes to make
the idol. The idol made in this fashion can be immersed in a bucket of water
and
this water can be used to water plants.

·        Idols made with Plaster of Paris and Chemical Paints contain heavy
metals and are harmful to the environment. Do not use thermocol, it takes years
to decompose. Idols made of unnatural material destroy and contaminate our
planet irrevocably. They poison ground water and make the water you drink
deadly. Such idols take years to decompose.

·        Create an artificial tank in your locality to immerse the idol instead
of contaminating natural sources of water.

·        Collect offerings of flowers and other organic material and put them
in
a compost pit. These can be used to fertilize your garden.

·        Do not immerse the flowers wrapped in polythene bags. They choke our
lakes and seas.

If you want a truly Divine experience and make Lord Ganesha smile, be kind to
your planet.

As you sow, so shall you reap... Go Green, Be Responsible.

Wish You all a Happy Ganesh Chaturthi
