Dear All, 
        
      Please find herewith traffic restrictions circular released by Mumbai 
Traffic police. This will help you while planning transport arrangements during 
15th, 16st, 17th & 22nd September 2010. This year It is expected more traffic 
jams due to bad road conditions and metro project work. 
        
      NOTIFICATION 
      To ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic and Ganpati processions in 
Mumbai, I, Brijesh Singh, Addl. Commissioner of Police (Traffic),Mumbai, in 
      exercise of the powers conferred upon me under Section 115 of M.V. Act 
1988, do hereby order the following traffic regulations on Wednesday (15th 
September,) Thursday (16th September,) 
      Friday (17th September,) and on Wednesday ( 22nd September,) 2010, from 
12.00 hrs., till 06.00 hrs. (all these days) 
        
      (I) CLOSURE OF ROADS : - 24 
      (01) Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Marg (Sandhurst Road) : 
      Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Marg :- From its jn. with Dr. N.A. Purandare 
Marg (Marine Drive) to its Jn. with Pandit Paluskar Chowk (Opera House) and 
further upto its jn. With Raja Ram Mohan Rai Marg, Prarthana Samaj will be 
closed for vehicular traffic. Wadi Bunder bridge shall be closed , West to 
East, for vehicular traffic. 
      (02) Pandita Ramabai Marg : From its Jn with Dr. N.A. Purandare Marg to 
Nyaymurti Sitaram Patkar Marg (Hughes Road) shall be closed for vehicular 
traffic. 
      (03) V.P. Road : From Cawasji Patel Tank to S.V.P. Road Jn. and its Jn. 
with Dr. Bhadkamkar Marg (Lamington Road except for vehicles carrying Ganpati 
Idols and proceeding towards Chowpatty) shall be closed for vehicular traffic. 
      (04) Jagannath Shanker Sheth Marg (Girgaum Road) : From Princess Street 
Jn. to S.V.P. Road Jn. (Opera House) will be closed for vehicular traffic. 
      (05) Dr. Jaykar Marg (Thakurdwar Marg) : From its Jn. with Jagannath 
Shanker Sheth Marg to its Jn. with Maharshi Karve Road (Queen's Road) shall be 
closed for vehicular traffic. 
      (06) Sane Guruji Marg (Chinchpokli Bridge) : Will be closed for vehicular 
traffic from its Jn. with Dr.B.A.Rd (Garamkhada Market) to N. Powel Jn. 
      (07) Tilak Bridge : Will be closed from both sides for vehicular traffic 
from Khodadad Circle (Dadar T.T.) to Kotwal Garden. 
      (08) N. C. Kelkar Marg : Will be closed for vehicular traffic from 
Kabutarkhana to Gadkari Chowk. 
      (09) Ranade Road : Will be closed for vehicular traffic, from its jn. 
with N.C. Kelkar Road to its jn. with Veer Savarkar Marg. 
      (10) Keluskar Marg :- Will be closed for vehicular traffic from its Jn. 
with Gokhale Road (North) to its Jn. with Keluskar Road (South & North). 
      (11) Keluskar Marg (South) : Will be closed for vehicular traffic from 
its Jn. With Veer Savarkar Marg to its Jn. with Keluskar Road (North). 
      (12) Keluskar Marg (North) : Will be closed for vehicular traffic from 
its Jn. With Veer Savarkar Marg to its Jn. with Keluskar Road (South). 
      (13) Shivaji Park Road No. 3 : Will be closed for vehicular traffic from 
its Jn. With Gokhale Road (North) to its Jn with Ranade Road. 
      (14) Shivaji Park Road No. 4 : Will be closed for vehicular traffic from 
its Jn. With Gokhale Road (North) to its Jn. with Shivaji Park Road No. 3. 
      (15) M.B. Raut Marg - Shivaji Park : Will be closed for vehicular traffic 
from its Jn.with S.V.S. Road (Cadel Road) and Shivaji Park Road No. 2. 
      (16) Shamrao Parulekar Marg, Vile Parle - West : Shall be closed for 
vehicular traffic between Indravadan Oza Marg to Vaikunthlal Mehta Marg, except 
for BEST buses going towards North. 
      (17) Janardhan Mahtre Road: From Juhu up to Mora Gaon, will be closed for 
vehicular traffic. 
      (18) Aadi Shankeracharya Marg (Powai) : Will be closed for vehicular 
traffic from its Jn. with Jal Vayu Vihar Road to its Jn. with Arcade Avenue 
Marg (Pawarwadi). 
      (19) Jeenabhai Mulji Rathod Marg : Will be closed for vehicular traffic, 
from its Jn. with Shivdas Chapsi Marg to P. D’Mello Road Jn. 
      (20) Din Dayal Updhyaya, Marg ( Dumping Road ) Mulund (W) :- This road is 
closed for all kinds of vehicular traffic from both the directions from 
Ambedkar Chowk to its Junction with LBS Marg. 
      (21) Lal Bahadur Shastry Marg, Mulund (W) : North bound traffic is 
closed, from Modela light signal Junction up to Toll Naka. South bound, 
carriage way is divided in to two lanes by putting drums and traffic of both 
bounds is diverted on the South bound carriageway. 
      (22) Bhattipada Marg, Bhandup (W): This road is closed for all kinds of 
vehicular traffic, from both the directions from its Junction, with Jangal 
Mangal Road, up to its junction with LBS Marg. 
      (23) Jangal Mangal Marg, Bhandup (W): This road is closed for all kinds 
of vehicular traffic from both the directions from its Junction with Tembipada 
Road up to Sarvoday Nagar society. 
      (24) Lal Bahadur Shastry Marg, Kurla (W) : North bound traffic on this 
road is closed from Kurla Depot Junction up to Ghatkopar Link Road Junction. 
South bound portion of this road is divided in to two lanes by putting drums 
and traffic of both bounds is diverted on the south bound carriageway. 
      II ONE-WAY ROADS - 47 
      (A) SOUTH MUMBAI - 14 
      (1) Nathalal Parekh Marg (Wodehouse Road) Colaba : From its Jn. with 
Capt. Prakash Pethe Marg will be closed for South bound vehicular traffic and 
existing one way between Pandey Marg and Colaba Post Office will be both ways. 
      (02) Rambhau Salgaonkar Marg : From its Jn. with Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg 
to its Jn. with Nathalal Parekh Marg will be closed for West bound vehicular 
traffic. 
      (03) Nyaymurthi Sitaram Patkar Marg (Hughes Road) : From its Jn. with 
Pandita Ramabai Marg to its Jn. with S.V.P. Road will be closed for South bound 
traffic. 
      (4) French Bridge : Will be closed for South bound vehicular traffic i.e. 
"No Entry" from Nyaymurthi Sitaram Patkar Marg (Hughes Road). 
      (5) Pandita Ramabai Marg : From its Jn. with Nyaymurthi Sitaram Patkar 
Marg (Hughes Road) upto Nana Chowk will be closed to West bound vehicular 
traffic i.e. "No Entry" from Nana Chowk. 
      (6) Kennedy Bridge : Will be closed for South bound traffic i.e. "No 
Entry" from Nana Chowk. 
      (7) Grant Road Bridge : Will be closed for West bound vehicular traffic 
i.e. "No Entry" from Dr. Bhadkamkar Marg. 
      (8) Pathe Bapurao Marg (Falkland Road) : Will be closed for East bound 
vehicular traffic i.e. "No Entry" from Tardeo Circle. 
      (9) R.S. Nimkar Marg : Will be One way for North bound traffic from 
Balaram Street Jn. to Alexandra Cinema Junction i.e. "No Entry" from Alexandra 
Cinema. 
      (10)Bellasis Bridge : Will be closed for West bound vehicular traffic 
i.e. "No Entry" from Mumbai Central Junction. 
      (11)Javji Dadaji Marg (Tardeo Road) : Will be One way from Nana Chowk to 
Tardeo Circle i.e. "No Entry" from Tardeo Circle. 
      (12)P. D’Mello Road : From Kaklidge Chowk to Wadi Bunder South carriage 
way is reserved for Ganapati immersion vehicles. The South bound vehicular 
traffic from Kaklidge Chowk to Wadi Bunder can use the North bound carriage 
way. 
      (13)Shivdas Champsi Marg : Will remain closed for South bound traffic 
from Jinabhai Mulji Rathod Marg Jn. to Noor Baug Jn. i.e. One way for North 
bound vehicular traffic from Noorbaug Jn. to Jeenabhai Mulji Rathod Marg Jn. 
      (14)Walkeshwar Road : Will be closed for vehicular traffic proceeding 
down the hill from Teen Batti to Band Stand (Except for BEST buses & Ganpati 
processions). 
      ( B) CENTRAL MUMBAI - 18 
      (1) Dr. Annie Beasant Road : Will be closed for South bound vehicular 
traffic from Worli Naka to Haji Ali Jn. Vehicular traffic is diverted from 
Worli Naka on Dr.E. Moses Road to its Jn. with Mahalaxmi railway station via 
Keshavrao Khadey Marg to its Jn with Haji Ali. 
      (2) Veer Savarkar Marg (Cadel Road) : From its Jn. with L.J. Road (Mahim 
Jn.) to its Jn.with S.K.Bole Marg (Siddhi Vinayak Jn.) will be closed for South 
bound vehicular traffic including BEST buses. North bound traffic will proceed 
from South bound carriageway. 
      (3) S.K. Bole Marg : Shall be One way from Hanuman Temple to Portuguese 
Church for South bound vehicular traffic i.e. "No Entry" from Portuguese Church 
to Hanuman Temple. 
      (4) Takandas Kataria Road (Lady Hardinge Road) : Will be closed for West 
bound vehicular traffic including BEST buses between L.J. Road and Veer 
Savarkar Marg (Cadel Road). The existing one way will be reversed in West to 
East Direction. 
      (5) Bal Govind Das Road : Will be One way from its Jn. with J.K.Sawant 
Marg to its Jn. with L.J.Road. 
      (6) J.K. Sawant Marg : From its Jn. with N.C. Kelkar Marg to its Jn. with 
Bal Govind Das Marg will be closed for South bound traffic. 
      (7) Tilak Road : From Dadar T.T. to its Jn. with Katrak Road shall be one 
way for East bound vehicular traffic. 
      (8) Katrak Road : From its Jn. with Don Bosco Chowk to its Jn. with 
Marathi Granth Sangralaya Marg (Naigaon Cross Road) will be closed for North 
bound vehicular 
      traffic. 
      (9) Mumbai Marathi Granth Sangralaya Marg : From its Jn. with G.D. 
Ambekar Marg up to its Jn. with Dr. B.A. Road shall be one way for West bound 
traffic. 
      (10)G.D. Ambekar Marg, Jerbai Wadia Marg, Dr. E.Borges Marg : From its 
Jn. With Sarfare Chowk to its Jn. with Mane Master Chowk to its Jn. with 
Khanolkar Chowk to its Jn. with Supari Baug shall be one way for South bound 
traffic. G.D.Ambekar Marg From its Jn. with Mane Master Chowk to its Jn. with 
Sant Gora Kumbhar Chowk shall be one way. 
      (11) Aacharya Donde Marg : Dr. B.A. Road From its Jn. with Parel T.T. 
upto its Jn. With Khanolkar Chowk shall be one way. As well as From its Jn. 
with Khanolkar Chowk to its Jn with Parel T.T. will be open for 
      Ganpati Immerssion Procession. 
      (12) S.S. Rao Road : From its Jn. with Aacharya Donde Marg up to Jijibhoy 
lane to its Jn. with Gopal Naik chowk shall be one way for South bound traffic. 
      (13)Dr. B.A. Road : From Maheshwari Udyan (King Circle) to its Jn. with 
Supari Baug will be closed for South bound vehicular traffic (South bound 
carriage way will be used for North bound vehicular traffic, since the North 
bound carriage way will be reserved for Ganpati procession only). 
      (14)Elphinstone Bridge (Jagannath Bhatankar Marg) : From its Jn. with Dr. 
B.A.Road (Parel T.T.) to its Jn. with Senapati Bapat Marg (Tulsi Pipe Road) 
will be closed for West bound vehicular traffic(Entry only from Senapati Bapat 
Marg). 
      (15)Mahadeo Palav Marg (Curry Road Bridge) : Will be closed for East 
bound vehicular traffic from its Jn. with N.M. Joshi Marg to Dr.B.A.Road 
(Bharatmata jn.) i.e. "No Entry" from N.M. Joshi Marg (Shingate Master Chowk.) 
      (16)Jerbai Wadia Marg: Dr. B.A.Road From its Jn. with Parel T.T. upto its 
Jn. with Mane Master Chowk will be closed for North bound traffic. 
      (17) N.M. Joshi Marg : From its Jn. with Ganpatrao Kadam Marg to its Jn. 
with Senapati Bapat Marg (Wadacha Naka) will be one way for vehicular traffic. 
      (18)Mankikar Marg : From its Jn. with Duncan Causeway up to Chuna Bhatti 
railway crossing will be made one way Northwards i.e. "No Entry" from Chuna 
Bhatti railway Station. 
      (C) SUBURBAN - 15 
      (1) Juhu Road : Shall be One way for west bound vehicular traffic from 
its Jn. With S.V. Road up to Juhu Tara Road Jn i.e. "No Entry" from Juhu Tara 
Road. 
      (2) Juhu Tara Road : Shall be one way for North bound vehicular traffic 
from its Jn. with Juhu Road upto its Jn. with A.B. Nair Road i.e. "No Entry" 
from A.B. Nair Road. 
      (3) Vaikunthlal Mehta Road, Vile Parle West : Shall be closed for West 
bound vehicular traffic from its Jn. with S.V. Road to its Jn. with Juhu Tara 
Road i.e. "No Entry" from S.V. Road. 
      (4) Indravadan Oza Marg, Vile Parle (West) : Shall be one way for West 
bound vehicular traffic from its Jn. with Gul Mohar Road upto its Jn. with Guru 
Nanak Road except BEST buses i.e. "No Entry" from Guru Nanak Road. 
      (5) Irla Society Marg : Will be One way from S.V. Road to Gulmohar Road. 
      (6) Gulmohar Road : From its Jn. with Vaikunthlal Mehta Marg to its Jn. 
With Indravadan Oza Marg will be one way for vehicular traffic. 
      (7) Barfiwala Marg : From its Jn. with Gulmohar Road to its Jn. with S.V. 
Road will be one way for vehicular traffic (whenever required). 
      (8) Jai Prakash Road: 
      (A) From its Jn. with S.V. Road to its Jn. with Ceaser Road shall be 
closed for East bound vehicular traffic i.e. "Entry" from S.V. Road. 
      (B) No Entry for all vechiles on South and North bound carriageway of the 
J.P,Road from Indian Oil Juction. 
      (C) No Entry for all vehicles on South and North bound carriageway of the 
J.P.Road from Charbangla Junction. 
      (9) P.K. Sawant Marg :- Right Trun will be permitted on P.K.Sawant Marg 
from Link Road for the Traffic going towards Varsova Link Road. 
      (10) Yari Road :- The north bound carriageway of the Yari Road from its 
junction with the lane leading to the beach near Sagar Kutir upto Yari Road 
signal will be reserved for the devotees and for the vehicles carrying idols. 
      No Entry for all vehicles on north bound carriageway of the Yari Road 
from the lane leading to the beach near Sagar Kutir upto Yari Road signal. 
      (11) Ceaser Road (Andheri-West) : From its Jn. with Jai Prakash Road to 
its Jn. With S.V.Road shall be closed for West bound vehicular traffic i.e. 
"Entry" only from Jai Prakash Road.. 
      (12) Versova Road : Will be One way from B.M.C. Garden to Yari Road. 
      (13) Lokmanya Tilak Marg : Will be closed for East bound vehicular 
traffic i.e. "No Entry" from Link Road Jn. to Babhai Naka. East bound vehicular 
traffic is diverted from Link Road Jn via Yogi Nagar, Eksar Road. 
      (14) Aadi Shankeracharya Marg : East bound traffic from its Jn. with Saki 
Vihar Road to its Jn. with Jal Vayu Vihar up to its Jn. with Arcade Avenue will 
be one way for vehicular traffic. East carriageway of Arcade Avenue Road to its 
Jn. of Hiranandani Garden will be closed for vehicular traffic. West 
carriageway will be used for vehicular traffic. 
      (15) Tank Road, Bhandup (W) :- This road is made one way from Shivaji 
Talav i.e. from its junction with Jangal Mangal Road up to its junction with 
LBS Marg. Traffic is diverted from Bhandup Gamdevi Road. 
      (III) BAN ON GOODS VEHICLES - 10 
      Goods vehicles shall be prohibited on the following roads except those 
carrying Ganapati idols. 
      (1) Veer Savarkar Marg : From its Jn. with Sayani Road to its Jn. with 
Mahim Causeway. 
      (2) Gokhale Road South and North. 
      (3) Lady Jamshedji Road, Mahim. 
      (4) Senapati Bapat Marg : From its Jn. with Sayani Road to its Jn. with 
Mori Road Mahim. 
      (5) Mori Road, Mahim. 
      (6) Mahim Causeway 
      (7) S.V.Road : From its Jn. with Vile Parle subway (Milan subway) to its 
Jn. with Western Express Highway (Ali Yavar Jung Marg) i.e. up to Mahim 
Causeway Jn. 
      (8) Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road : From its Jn. with Western Express 
Highway to Saki Vihar Road (L & T). will be one way for East bound vehicular 
traffic. 
      (9) Ramchandra Bhatt Marg, Dongri. 
      (10) Lal Bahadur Shastry Marg, Kurla (W) : From Kurla Depot Junction up 
to Ghatkopar Link Road Junction 
        
      PRESS NOTE 
      During the ensuing Ganpati Festival Traffic Police have to make elaborate 
arrangements to maintain the law and order and to regulate vehicular as well as 
pedestrian traffic, Control Rooms have been set up at Five places viz. Girgaon 
Chowpatty, Shivaji Park Chowpatty, Bandra, Juhu Chowpatty and Powai (Ganesh 
Ghat). Watch towers are erected at 37 places for regulating the traffic as well 
as for processions carrying the idols. 
      Various voluntary organizations such as Civil Defence, Home Guards, 
Traffic Wardens, R.S.P.Teacher, Water Safety Patrol , N.C.C. Cadets, N.S.S. 
students from various colleges are participating with Traffic Police in 
controlling the Pedestrian / vehicular traffic and Ganpati processions. 
      Certain Traffic restrictions have been imposed in Mumbai on Wendsday 
(15th September,) Thursday (16th September,) Friday (17th September,) and on 
Wendsday ( 22nd September,) 2010, from 12.00 hrs., till 06.00 hrs. The 
restrictions which are imposed on these days, are as 
      under : 
      (1) CLOSURE OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC 24 
      (2) ONE WAY VEHICULAR MOVEMENT 47 
      (3) BAN ON TRUCK MOVEMENT 10 
      (4) PARKING RESTRICTONS 40 
      Annexure has been enclosed with this Press note giving details of these 
restrictions on various roads. In addition to this cranes would be stationed at 
various places ( Police cranes, B.M.C. cranes and high capacity cranes from 
private organizations) Steel Plates will be provided on the beaches to prevent 
trucks and other vehicles from getting bogged down in the sand on various 
beaches. Drums will be placed on various roads for segregating the processions 
and the returning crowd. First Aid Center will be set up with the assistance of 
the St.John’s Ambulance Brigade, Saifee Ambulance , Muslim Ambulance and Parsi 
Ambulance Brigade, 
      The above arrangements are made for the safety of the citizens. 
Volunteers of NGOs would be assisting the Police. Mumbaikars are requested to 
obey the directions and to cooperate. The Traffic Police would ensure that 
minimum inconvenience will be caused to the pedestrians and the motorists.
