Healthy Habits for Saving Money Have you ever looked at your empty bank account and thought, “Where did the money go?” and then realize that your salary didn’t go to something you really wanted, but was frittered away on small, unnoticed expenses.
Here are few tips to help you have more control over your finances month-on-month: *Set up your “accounting corner”* – You can keep all your financial records like your bills, receipts, bank statements, insurance documents, etc in file folders or a box. In a nearby drawer, keep things you may need in the course of paying a bill. This way you minimize wasting time looking for lost documents, and also avoid fines for missed payments. *Give yourself a financial goal - *It’s easier to save money when you know what you’re saving for. Set a deadline and promise yourself you’ll save a certain amount each month. That way saving doesn’t feel like you’re depriving yourself, it’s actually a step towards getting what you really want. *Set allowances* - You should set your own personal allowance - how much will you allot for eating out, going to the movies, buying books etc month-on-month. *Avoid unplanned ATM withdrawals* - One of the worst “money habits” is to withdraw small amounts from the ATM unless you’re really diligent at writing down even small expenses. It’s more efficient to set your total household budget in the beginning of the month, withdraw that amount from your ATM, and split your money into envelopes as per expenses like bills, shopping, food, transportation. For security, store the money in a locked cash box or drawer. *Don’t lead yourself into temptation* - Everyone has a weakness where they tend to overspend. Once you know your biggest budget-buster, plan and prepare. For example, if you’re a shoe-aholic and you’re looking for heels set your ceiling price and bring cash. ** -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "BETTER PERSONALITY GROUP" group.
