I think this Mailing List is just for commits to the base code, not for feature requests.
If you need to play back animations, in 2.49, hit the Play button on the Anim panel. If you need to play back animations in 2.50, wait for it and don't ask why it isn't there yet, you sound like a little kid in the back seat of a car.
