Thanks. I restarted the import activity. This time the import failed due to an internal error within Launchpad. I've contacted the administrator at Launchpad to look into the problem.
The Launchpad project management tool was designed to make it easy for package maintainers of the Ubuntu distribution to track bugs and to manage branches of packages that are owned and hosted in other repositories. They have built bridges to CVS, Subversion, Git, and Mercurial. The Launchpad bug tracker has a very modern user interface and has excellent search features. I thought it would be worth investigating for use on blender. It is possible to track bugs on the mirrored branch of blender and not touch the current Subversion repository used by blender. The current owner of the blender project on Launchpad is [email protected] has gone missing, so I've taken the liberty of adding a bf-committers team to Launchpad and asked the Launchpad administrator to reassign the Maintainer of the blender project on Launchpad to the bf-committers team. I will probably be asked by the Launchpad administrator for someone to vouch for the request to have the Maintainter of the blender project on Launchpad to be changed to the bf-committers team. I will refer them to you if that is requested. Also, I would be happy to turn over ownership of the bf-committers to anyone you designate. My intension was simply to test how teams work on Launchpad. I set up a test of the bf-committers team by making the team the Driver on the https://code.launchpad.net/pydstool project on Launchpad. I turned on bug tracking for this project and entered a couple bugs to so I could experiment with the user interface and search capabilities. If you have a Launchpad id I can add it to the bf-committers team and you can test the bug tracker on the pydstool project. There are 17,158 projects managed on Launchpad. There is no advertising and the user interface is much better than sourceforge and fusiionforge. I would like to suggest considering Launchpad as a replacement for fusiionforge. But rather than starting a debate on the developers email list I thought it would be best to contact you first. Conducting a test of the bug tracker would be a simple first step in the evaluation process.
